Originally, Khamane Bodhisatt Tao was composed by Master Choy Sunthornwatin in the reign of King Rama V. The piece existed in 3 versions; for a Pipat ensemble, Mahori ensemble and String ensemble. Later in the reign of King Rama VI, the vocal part was further adjusted by Phraya Sanoh Duriyang. In 1931, Prince Paribatra revised the melodies and infused the piece with Western style harmony to be played by a military band. The score has been kept in the music archives of the Royal Thai Army and the Royal Thai Navy Military Band Divisions.
The lyrics was provided by Jaroen Pattayakosol, but the source was unknown.
