Paopun Amnatham

Asst.Prof. Paopun Amnatham, Ph.D.

Paopun was admitted through the “Chulalongkorn University National Level Artistic Talented-Based Student Admission Program.” During his studies, he joined the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps in Madison, Wisconsin, USA. He performed with the Corps in the Drum Corps International 2002 (DCI) competition, where he won the solo keyboard percussion competition held by DMC Solo & Ensemble and earned the title “Keyboard Champion of 2002.”

Paopun was a prize winner of the PENDIM International Percussion Competition (4th Edition) in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, and the International Marimba Competition 2009. Additionally, he received the highest score at The International Percussion Competition (Marimba) 2016 in Italy.

As a soloist, Paopun has been invited to perform with prestigious organizations such as the Percussion Club Austria, Chengdu Conservatory, Percussion Festival Hallein, Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra (Qatar), The Philharmonie Salzburg (Austria), and Philharmonie der Nationen (Germany). He has collaborated with numerous institutes across Europe.

Since 2006, Paopun has been selected to join judge panels in competitions such as the WAMSB International Competition and the Thailand International Marching Band Competition by the Department of Physical Education, Ministry of Tourism and Sports.

As a composer, Paopun has been commissioned to write set pieces for the Thailand Drumline Contest by the Department of Physical Education (Ministry of Tourism and Sports) and has had works published by National Research Council of Thailand. Several of his compositions have been performed internationally.

After completing his Doctor of Philosophy at Silpakorn University, Paopun currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Percussion at the Faculty of Music, Silpakorn University. Additionally, he holds the position of principal timpanist at the Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra and is recognized as a Yamaha artist.
