This piece is an extension of the composer’s senior thesis, narrating the stories of Pathum Thani Province, including its culture, traditions, folk games, and way of life. Each section represents a different aspect of the province: Depicts the Chao Phraya River and its significance to the people of Pathum Thani. The main melody incorporates lyrics from the traditional Thai song “Ram Pa Khao San”: (He Hey La Hey La, Sao Oei, Jao Khao Mae La La Lok Oei, La Hom Dok Dok Oei Champa, He Hey La Hey La, Sao Oei…) Illustrates the daily lives of the locals, such as rowing boats along the canals and children’s folk games, including Jam Jii Ma Khuea Po-Pae, Mon Son Pha, and Ri Ri Khao San. Captures the atmosphere of temples and religious ceremonies, integrating Buddhist chanting as a central element: (Arahang Sammasambuddho Bhagawa, Buddham Bhakawantam Abhivademi…) Expresses the decline of traditional culture and the inevitable shift brought by modernization. This section is set in C minor, incorporating the Phrygian scale to enhance the feeling of loss and transformation. Concludes the piece with a sense of joy and empowerment, celebrating the transition into a new era. The music modulates back to B-flat Major, symbolizing a return to hope and renewal.
